All our commercial blinds are designed with a simple installation in mind. We know our blinds are easy to install because our customers have told us they have comfortably installed hundreds over a matter of days. In this article, we run through the process of installing our R40 premium roller blind with a sidewinder. This blind features a premium build that helps it withstand heavy-duty use.

How to install a roller blind

Before you begin, check that you have all the necessary parts and that the blind fits the intended installation point. Ensure the fabric unrolls from the back of the barrel unless specified as a reverse-roll.

The first step in the installation process is to secure the control-end bracket in place using the appropriate screws and plugs.

Next, you’ll need to position the blind within the control-end bracket and mark where the pin-end bracket will be attached. Detach the blind and use suitable screws and plugs to install the pin-end bracket with the help of the mark you created.

Insert the lug at the control-end into its bracket, ensuring it is vertical and slots correctly into the cross-shaped opening. Then, insert the spring-loaded pin into the pin-end bracket.

Place the pin located at the pin-end of the blind into its bracket. Ensure the control-end lug is correctly positioned in its bracket, vertically aligned, and drops into the cross-shaped opening.

The R40 roller blind features a new and improved end plug with a spring-loaded pin that easily clicks into the bracket, ensuring the blind is secure.

Once you have completed these steps, you're ready to test if the blind can be moved up and down without any issues. Install any necessary child safety devices as per guidelines.

Other considerations

  • This blind should be installed by a person competent in DIY. If unsure, seek advice from a professional.
  • The universal plastic or plastic/metal brackets supplied with the blind may be top or face-fixed.
  • Be aware that loops in the pull cords, chains, tapes, and inner cords used to operate the blind can be a strangulation hazard.
  • To prevent the risk of strangulation and entanglement, ensure that cords are kept out of reach of young children, as they can easily wrap around a child's neck.
  • Move beds, cots and furniture away from window covering cords.
  • Do not tie cords together. Make sure cords do not twist and create a loop.
